The American Range A11100 Range Thermocouple 18-20 30mV is a temperature-sensing element used to detect the existence of a pilot flame in a gas range, during regular operation. Heated by the pilot flame, it produces a small millivolt electrical signal, which is used by the control system to verify flame status and permit the gas valve to remain open. It is applied in commercial cooking ranges where accurate flame detection is needed to allow safe ignition and further burner operation. The thermocouple is attached next to the pilot flame.
