The Market Forge 97-6970 Steam Trap is used to control the flow of hot water and cooler condensate in a sterilization system by automatically detecting the temperature difference between the boiling liquid and vapor. The internal bellows are then made to expand to close the valve as steam fills the chamber and then contract to release the built-up water and non-condensable gases when temperatures drop. This part is mounted at the lowest point of the discharge line or in the plumbing manifold of the autoclave. The unit uses construction that enables it to remain mechanically operational in severe conditions.
