The Market Forge 91-7978 Flange Gasket 2-1/16 x 3-1/4 with mounting holes is a replacement part that is applied between the immersion heating element flange and the surface that it is mounted to. It forms a non-leaky protective shield to aid in avoiding the escape of fluids or gases at the point of connection. The gasket is located in the flange assembly and provides uniform closing of the flange assembly with temperature and pressure changes. It works the purpose of maintaining the accurate functioning of the heated system by maintaining joint integrity.
