The Follett 175174 Ultrasonic Sensor Kit uses sound waves of high frequency that reflect off the ice surface to determine the volume of ice left in a storage container. The built-in transducer measures the time interval of the returned echo to determine the precise fill level without contact. This sensor is mounted on the top of the ice machine bin and it is facing downwards to the area where it collects. In order to prevent overfilling and mechanical interference, the system detects the proximity of the ice pile and initiates the shut-off cycle.
