The Blodgett 55088 Convection Oven Door Support Switch is an electromechanical sensor that is concerned with safety and detects the position of a convection oven door and transmits the signal to the control system. When closed the heating and the fan are connected to a circuit and when open the circuit is broken so as to prevent operation which may expose the operators to heat and moving parts. It is fitted to the inner wiring harness of the oven and is connected to the hinge or frame of the door.
